Compare the whole

Well, my wife and son and I attempted to find Sand Highway at the dunes this weekend to compare some componets between the KPX and the Dazon, unfortuneately, with no avail. You were BBQ'ing and we could not find you. But, we did find a independent rider that had the Dazon 1 seater. Keep in mind that we own a "Bombadier" (KPX) 2 seater and we were comparing the 2 different models. To be completely blunt, while comparing the motors, I FOUND ABSOLUTELY NO DIFFERENCE. The motors looked identical. Am I wrong?~

I surveyed the motors fairly thoroughly. Looke the same to me.

I thought that after all the hoo rah that the Dazon would be rockin and that I would see the issue head on. I did not. To tell you the truth, I feel that i should be able to add the preformance kit to my model with no problems whatsoever. WHITE BROS PIPE?! jet kit??

Anyway, i definately am not attempting to down on the DAZON. Because to tell you the truth, service says alot. ALL.

Want to have somr truths laid on the line even if its persomal.\

PS although  on EBAY KPX is listed as a sandrail. the dunes are pretty cumbersome anyway  i would likefeedback on these carts. good with hop-up er what?

Well here is the problem. As you can see the frames are a different design and some of the components are not the same. The kit may fit but the measurements must be exact. I knew a guy who tried to put one on his Kasea but it was a few inches off.

The KPX carts have a different design on the frame. Also single reservoir old style lights and a few other corners were cut. Might not make a huge difference to some people. I know those round lights are worthless if you do any serious riding. I had a few bulbs go out and a whole light break off.  Dazon went to the square metal lights. Super durable and much brighter. The 19 and 18 inch tires are smaller then the Dazon 20s. The KPX karts on their site don't have the roll bar padding and a few other options. Not sure if they actually come with it. But over all it is like the 2003 model from Dazon.

Also no CARB certification for selling KPX in California!

It's not a Bombadier and it's spelled Bombardier it's called a brigadier! I have a Hulk and it is much like the 2003 Dazon not the 2004. Check out the frame and rollbar design.

Spell check is available on most computers!

My KPX lights burnt out the first day. I replaced the bulbs and they went out a few weeks later. The round ones are cheap ass plastic.

Call us and bring your kart to the shop to see if a hop up kit fits. Then we can race! Jk

Yepp I have done a good deal of research and they are right. It's like the Dazon without the advancements Dazon has made in last couple of years. And you are right about service. It scared me that they (KPX) is so new with so few dealers. Dazon has been selling these karts for several years and they have made many improvements over the first karts. Also Sand Highway Motorsports was the first California Dealer sot they have allot of experience with these. Dazon has a full stock of replacement parts and very good technicians. Ask them questions and they are on it!

It's not set in stone but I am thinking Dazon!

Here is another unbiased opinion.  I went to the local dealer today.  That is the name of the dealer.  I asked the owner straight up which is the better machine.  He told me that the twister as of this time does not have a hop up kit like the Dazon.  (I did not ask him if the Dazon hop up would work on the Twister).  He said they are working on a hop up for the Twister but as of yet it is not finished.  Which leads me to believe the Dazon kit will not work on the Twister.  He also told me that all the twisters he has sold were able to get California green stickers.  One more thing he told me was that he has about a 50% return rate on the Dazon and has not had a Twister back in for repair.  Not sure if that means the twister owners just fix there repairs thereselve's or if they are just not having the problems the Dazon's are.  When asking about these I referred to the 2 seaters only cause that is what I am most interested in.  This kinda let the wind out of my sails since I was really leaning towards the Dazon.  He had both units on hand and personally I like the Dazon looks better.  As the Owner and Manager of when asked which one he would buy he said Twister.  Now what should I do?  Give them a call and ask for the Owner if you do not believe me.

Well the guy you are talking to is a salesman to start with. His profit margin is probably better on a Twister because it is a cheaper machine to buy wholesale but priced almost the same retail. It is cheaper because they have used some cheaper components offered at the factory while Dazon has opted for the upgrades.

Sand Highway has had ZERO returns on the Dazon Raiders in over two years and almost no warranty claims. In fact no warranty claims on the 2004 model period. They have sold more then almost any other CA dealer as well.

Again these are all basically made in the factories so don't look to hard for a BETTER ride. Look for the small differences. Dual reservoirs brakes, double chains, better tires and most of all service. Oh yeah and which looks best!

Ride On!

My Dazon HAs a double chain set up I assume they all do. Two chains and two sprockets. We have not broke signle chain in 5 months of ownership and we put allot of hours on it. Seems heavy duty.

Has anyone switched out cams or internal engine parts? Just wondering if anything like that is availble.

Dunite,

I agree with you he is a salesman.  Also I never thought about the profit margins.  You may be correct with him trying to sell the higher profit machine.  As far as service I have never owned either but looking at the machines side by side I would also have to side with you saying that the Dazon looks more durable, reliable.  I have always leaned towards the Dazon and that is what I will buy when it comes down to it.  I would really like to wait for the 175cc two seater though.  Any word on when they will be out?  Thanks for the replies and I am not trying  to stir the pot I just want to get the best ride for my money as does everyone else.  (Sitll waiting for the video clips)

Please do stir the pot. That's what this is for and I understand about getting the best ride. I drive myself crazy comparison shopping on anything I buy. I spent six months car shopping and then finally made a purchase. I was so relieved to finally just buy something. Felt like a second job going over everything and looking for the perfect truck.

The 175 should be in next month  but still need CARB testing. My guess is another month or two after that. Probably worth the wait though. The seats alone look better then any stock ones I have seen.

As for the video clips they are supposed to getting digitized as we speak. It's so hard to find good help! Just kidding Mark

I will keep you posted here!

Today I went back into riders choice.  Talked to the Owner again and he said that he would take both my motorcycles for a straight across trade for a Raider 150R Double seat.  He has a used 175R Double in for repair right now and I do like the seats alot better.  Is is possible to put the 175 seats in the 150?  Are the the exact same size.  I did not ask.  I think he is getting the better end of the deal.  I have a 99 YZ 400F and a 04 CRF 50 that I would be trading for the deal.  Is this an ok deal?  I figure I could sell my 99 for $2300 and the 04 for $1000 but that could take awhile.  My boy who is 6 really wants the Twister (Only because of the horn and turn signals)  is it possible for me to put some aftermarket one's on there for him?  When we were up in Utah he rode his uncles Twister all over the dirt roads with a sleeping bag behind his back.  Is there a way to make some pedal extensions or something so he can wear his seatbelt properly?  Also what are the age restrictions?  Will they mess with him out in the boondocks if I am close by or with him?  Thanks for all the replies.  I will make my decision by Wednesday next week.  But now I must get ready to go Scuba Diving in Catalina tomorrow and Saturday.  Thanks for all the replies.  This board is awesome.  Just wish there was a little more activity.
