Would I need better shocks for elevated driving conditions (read *driving off small hills and catching air*)? If so, what would you all recommend? How much travel is in a 175cc raider suspension?
Also, what speed can the stock tires handle? Would a 30 horsepower karting motor be a viable swap into a raider (what would I need to replace besides the engine assembly)?

There is not a whole lot of travel in the stock shocks. We catch air out in the dunes and land gently (most of the time) but our tires are aired way down and the sand is forgiving. For big jumping in the dirt a longer travel shock would be needed. I have been looking for a brand that does not brake the bank but most are expensive especially when you don't know how they will perform. I am looking to pick some up though because we could use more travel even in the sand. I will let you know what I get.
The new 2004 tires are very durable and I would guess they could handle the engine swap. I have spoke with many people attempting the engine swap you are talking about because we are all sick of waiting for a 250. The hard part is the suspended engine and the transmission conversion but we are working on it. Hopefully anyone who makes progress will post it here!
