Well they are here and they rock. If there was ever a question which manufacturer to choose then Dazon has blown everyone out of the water. The new 2005 150 two seaters or dualsports as they are called just plain rock. Dazon has made so many upgrades it is like a whole new kart.Check out the list below.

1. Bucket Seats (the same seats that the Raider MAX use)

2. Adjustable yellow shock absorber.

3. New air cleaner

4. Oil gatherer

5. Bigger rear rack (much larger with a flat part extending off of both sides)

6. Redesigned trailer hookup

7. Strengthened rear axle

8. Chain Guard (if you were a dealer in 2003, a chain guard like there was on that model)

9. Redesigned control panel with all upgraded switches plus the addition of a speedometer, horn, a 12V accessory plug, and a manual choke button (see #12)

10.  Rear reflectors (right & left)

11. Installed Oil Cooler (on all units EXCEPT for units to be sold in CA, we will have to do a retest with CARB to get the new oil cooler approved in CA before we can release units with these upgrades).

12. Manual choke carburetor (also on all units EXCEPT units being sold in CA for the same reasons as above).

13. Left & Right rear view mirrors (these come packed in cartons that are included in the crates)

14. Cover over the parking brake & Reverse levers (like there used to be on the 2003 models)

Pictures coming in a few days when it gets here.

Reserve one now as they are going very quick.

Cool!,
how bout the shocks, are they actually any different from last years?
they state above that it has new yellow adjustable shocks, as far as I know last years were yellow and adjustable, just not adjustable dampening

Previously only the fronts were adjustable and now the rear shocks are as well. Yep the White brothers pipe fits. The carb jets are already bigger so there is no need to change those. The battery is now mounted up on the swing arm so there is no need to reposition it when adding the White Bros pipe.

My Hammerhead Twister ran pretty good for about a week. But now it is doggy slow. I thought it would get better after break in but who knows. I took it very easy for about 5 hours to make sure break in was easy on it. Also I just saw the 2005 Dazon two seater 150 and they look killer but they were not yet available when I bought mine. So I guess it will just be for the kids to putt around in. Not enough performance for me to have fun. I weigh 185 lbs. I don't plan on spending the extra for performance parts because i don't see it getting fast enough for an adult and no way would it be good in the dunes. Nothing has really broken though just doggy.

Yes the Twister Hammerheads II 150 is slower then the Dazon Raider 150 Dualsport. Many other differences on the new Dazon Raider as well. Mine is a 2004 but it is faster then the Hammerhead I raced. The Hammerhead had the hop up kit and I did not (but do now) and I still won. I can't imagine the Hammerhead working in the sand without the upgrades. Although the engines look similar they are not and I don't think the Dazon/White Brothers pipe will fit the Twister Hammerhead. I may be wrong but I don't think it fits. Anyway I just saw the 2005 Raider and there are many changes from mine. Same price though.

Anyone dropped a bigger engine in yet?

Carlos,

Yes we have put a Honda 400 in a single seater. Check it out here http://sandhighway.com/videos.html

It's sick but a little scary. The bike would haul ass at freeway speeds so this kart is going to fly. We are still working out kinks on the rear suspension but everything else was done with minor fabrication. We borrowed many parts from the street bike donor.

I just finished assembly on my 2005 Raider double. Fairly easy to do but I have a few questions.

1. I have not recieved the battery. Is it usually in the big box with the kart?

2. I have purchased the hop up kit with the pipe. Should I run through a break in period before adding the kit or is it OK to put it on the fr3esh engine?

Thanks, Jack

P.S. I am a welder and the welds on the frame look very good. Can't wait to fire her up!

Jack,

Yes the battery is usually shipped separately.

As for the hop up, if you put it on before break in just take it easy for a while. The kit will put a little extra stress on the motor but if you are easy on it for 5 hours or so it will be fine. Just don't run it at full throttle or for long periods of time. Remember to drop the oil after break in.

Hi Dunite

We just bought 10 dazon raider 150 D.
We try to connect the fuel tank but we don't know how to it.
There are 2 hoses from the tank but we don't know where to connect it.
Is it possible to explain us ?
Thank you very much.

Best regards.

The lower hose connects to the vaccum and the upper hose to the carb. The device on the bottom of the tank is a vaccum fuel pump.

I bought a 2005 Dazon 150.  It backfires through the carb at idle and dies.  Anyone know what it could be?  I tried to adjust the carb but nothing changed.

What type climate are you running in? My 150s have the same problem in cold weather, but goes away as motor warms up.Could be in the choke, but to my knowledge, there are no adjustments you can make.

Adjust the air gas mixture by turning the screw on the side of the carb.. Also make sure all ignition wires and plug wires are tight.

Thanks!  I live in Oklahoma so the weather has been anywhere from 30 degrees to 74 the other day.  I tried asjusting the carb but had no luck.  It actually idles good for a minute and then it sounds like the carb sucks air and dies.  I put the aftermarket pipe and UNI filter on it but I have had this problem since new.  I took it back to the dealer I bought it from and they have had no luck fixing it.  They told me they talked to Dazon and they said it might need the valves adjusted.  Who knows when I will get it back

In dealing with bikes and buggys in the past, most engines are jetted for their set-up. The dazon's are jetted from the factory for the pipe and breather that came with it. These buggys pull a massive amount of air without mods to the breather and pipe .Thats how they get their power. You've heard the saying "the more flow, the more go" and that is only increased with the addition of the pipe and filter. The slow jet in the carb cannot supply enough fuel at idle to support the engine.Even at stock, i've found that these machines don't like to idle very long.

Have you ever had it to die while in the throttle or just while it is idling?

I really think the upgrades for these are a good idea, but all of these increase the amount of air-flow tothe engine. There are jets available also but they would in my opinion be about the right size for running about 3000 feet above sea level where the air is then, thus needing less fuel. I would suggest as an experiment, tapeing up about half your air filter and see what happens. If it helps, youre running too lean for pipe and breather. If it makes it worse, you are amazingly too rich.

The only way to fix a lean condition is either restrict the air flow a little like with the tape, or have your jets boared a little unless there are several different sizes in the aftermarket to experiment with. If youre rich, you either need to jet down, or allow even more air in with the screw and maybe some manifold mods like or even a breather with even more flow.

Sounds like youre lean to me though.

Sorry so long

Good advice from donut, also it takes a whopping 5-10 minutes to adjust valves so don't let the dealer keep it. Very easy to do yourself.

Now would be a good time to get aquainted with the internal workings of the carb. I agree with donut about them being too lean, however if it is actually backfiring through the carb, this usually means it is too rich. Is your choke stuck? If it is too lean it usually just dies with no backfire (like mine) you should have the manual choke on yours so this sounds unlikely but I would check it.

Good luck,
Twister

Good Grief, I must have been in a fog, backfiring through the carb is a lean condition. You should be able to adjust your air mixture screw out enough to compensate for low end backfiring.

Thanks for the info.  The dealer I bought it from just built the other 05' they bought and it does the same thing.  I tried adjusting the carb both lean and rich and nothing changed.  Someone from OKC is coming monday afternoon to take a look at it.  I will let you know the outcome just in case anyone else experiences this same problem.  Thanks again.

Jetting

Your idle mixture to 1/4 throttle is all that is controlled by the air screw adjustments. The main jet circuits are located inside the float bowl. These must be unscrewed and removed, then replaced with other sizes.

Still say your running lean. Try the test with the tape and breather. This will hurt top end but will tell you if its lean on the idle. I think I read where these karts have a manual choke. If so the same can to a certain degree, be accomplished by pulling your choke out about 1/4 to 1/2 and see how this affects engine. If engine speeds up a little, your too lean. If it sputters and dies, your rich. This can also be used to check top-end jetting. If it helps, your lean. If it hurts, your rich or o.k.

air mixture should do it since it is at or near idle

Well the dealer has had my 150 since last thursday and no news.  I tried to call them today and they were closed.  If I ever buy another Dazon it won't be from them.
