Where do I get parts for my Dazon Raider 150r? I love it but my drive belt broke. Now it is just sitting there. Also i ordered from a dealer who is clueless as to fixing this thing. My warranty has long expired as well. I am oretty good with tools though. Should I attempt to change it myself?
The original buggies shipped with a drive belt which was a little wimpy. They work fine for most but if you run them hard or in a hot climate they can fail. The new 2004 models have a much better belt. I have never heard of the new ones breaking.
Anyway we have them in stock and can ship you one for your repair. The installation is not super complicated but requires some tools. First take out your key and disconnect the battery. Next remove your exhaust pipe. Then you pull off the black case which houses the clutch and drive belt. Just loosen the little bolts around the outside but be careful not to destroy the gasket behind it. It is just a dust gasket but try to protect it. Clean the front drive pully and clutch from any rubber build up. Now you need to remove the front pully which is a little tricky. Use and impact wrench if you have one. I have used a strap gripper like the ones used to remove an oil filter but made of flexible plastic to hold the pulley. Be very careful not to break the fins on that pully. Then just put your belt on and ressemble.
If you cart will not start with the new belt try to turn down the idle. The new belts grab the clutch more and sometimes it won't start.
Do not attempt this if you are still under warranty. Have a certified Dazon mechanic perform the operation. This is just a brief description and Sand highway is not liable for any repairs made from these instructions.
