Hi can anyone tell me if they make aftermarket performance parts for the hammerhead II. This is my first off road go kart. My dealer told me the engine is a Yamaha 150CC, also I was wondering if this is a good go kart to start with as this is the only one I found that I can fit into. Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks for the info Dunite I'm only 6'4 but my weight is 260. I went ahead and got the Hammerhead II I guess I'll have to wait and see what after market parts come avaible.
i just got a hammehead 2 and i was wondering wether there was any way to put a spedometer on it. if someone could tell me how it would be greatly appreciated
I bought a Twister Hammer Head 2 about 2 months ago. Last week the starter went out. I took it back to the dealer and he said that was the 2nd one to go out. Keep in mind this dealer has only been selling the karts about 2 months. I got one of the first he sold. The mechanic in the back also told me 2 had come back with blown enigne and almost everyone of them come back with the reverse cable broken. He said mine was about to break but he didnt have any spare parts in inventory. He said I should change the engine oil every month. Anyone else having trouble with the Hammerhead 2?

Eddie,
Yes I have heard that the Hammerheads are not reliable. We tested one to see if we wanted to offer them to our customers and we were not happy. They turned out to be much different then the Dazon Raiders. They looked similar to the 2003 Raiders but the components and engine were all different. The lights were cheap and the starter did have problems on the one we tested. We have sold tons of the Dazon Raiders and to this point have not had ANY warranty claims associated with the engine, starter or reverse cable. I am surprised that the one I drive is still holding up. It is a 2003 Dazon Raider 150. I thrash on it to say the least and it's a miracle if it gets rinsed off after the dunes! The only thing I have broken is the chain and the new 2004 Raiders have a double chain set up.
Hammerheands SUCK. What a pain in my butt. That's what I get for trying to save a buck. Anyway time to upgrade to a Dazon 250 when they get in! Yahooooooo.
Hi I just picked my Hammerhead II up on friday I rode it for about 1 1/2 hrs. I was going to take it out last nite and ride around, when I went to start it, it wouldn't even turn over I was told by the dealer that I bought it from, that if something was going to go wrong it would happen within a few days, well I quess he was right, now I have to wait until Tuesday to take it back and get the piece of S*&% looked at.I checked for Voltage and continuity. I thing the starter is out. I want my money back.
That seems par for the course on the Twister Hammerheads! Get a refund for that sucker if you can. The Dazon Karts are still producing very few problems.
As mentioned before please do not post links, addresses or names of kart dealers here. If we let one then things quickly get out of hand. We encourage discussion but will remove post with links and names because we cannot edit everyones post.
Not in my experience. I Bought a hammerhead about a month ago. My dealer also had the Dazon Raiders which were a couple of hundred dollars more. I figured they looked about the same and I could get helmets with the extra cash so we went with the Twister. At first everything was great. The kids ran it for hours each day and then behold things started going wrong. I took back for repairs and the dealer was not surprised. He says many of the Hammerheads come back for one thing or another but of course he did not know thins a month ago. Ours has some sort of ignition/electrical problem. The dealer is offering a trade in for a demo Raider which I think we will take rather then keep taking the Twister back to the shop.
I was at a recent motorcycle show and saw all of the aftermarket parts for the Hammerhead and learned that they are all low grade and made in China. What I like about the Dazon's is that all of their aftermarket performance parts come from the reputable USA companies such as White Brothers, UNI filters, and Wiseco. Not sure if the Wiseco pistons & rings are available yet, but that is what the guys at Dazon told me a few weeks ago. I am looking forward to the Wiseco pistons & rings, which they claim brings the compression up to 11:1. Where do I get one?...sign me up!!
ME too! We just got it sand it looks AWESOME!!! I wanna wait to give it to the kids for Christmas but I am not sure I can. There is an empty field behind our house with a dirt track.
Too slow to be fun unless you weigh under 100 lbs. We took ours to the dunes and it sucked for the adults and forget about putting two people in it unless you are on hard pack. If you want performance you need to go with a one seat buggy. I saw a hopped up Raider one seater 2004 I think and the kid was catching air but I could not get up enough speed in my twister to get off the ground.
I agree! Not that they are total pieces of you know what but your money would be better spent on a Dazon kart then the Twister Hammerhead. I actually found the Dazon to be less expensive online then at the Hammerhead twister at my local dealer. After reading this and other forums I am going to get a Dazon but I am not weather to go for the 175 or the 150. I am looking for a double so any feedback would be appreciated.

I have found the power of 175 & 150 to be very compatible. If your riding carries you through low speed trails,I would recomend the 150 air cooled. If you are hi speed riding the water cooled model would be great.
I have a 250 that is water cooled, and it took 4 ever to warm up because the fans run constantly. This was resolved by an inexpensive temp. controlled switch and a little work.
I would also prefer the air cooled just for the simple fact that there is less to tear up.The simpler you can keep these machines , the less likely of getting stranded off the beaten path.
ya my starter went out also. You can also put a 450R Quad engine in it i think thats what im going to do but the drive train might not be able to handle so much power but ill see!
