The only up-grade to a cdi is one with no rev limiter. Don't think i've ever hit the rev limiter on mine yet. Don't wind up that high. If you have done enough mods to make it reach the RPM that hits the limiter, it will miss. Having a cdi with no limiter will allow the engine to rev higher. If your not hopped up, it won't help any.
Up thru 2004, all the Dazon's had the auto choke. With the 2005 models only the California models have the auto choke. Dazon changed because some folks in the colder areas were having trouble starting their karts with the auto chokes.
